It’s back to school time for both formal and informal students!

The season of yellow buses, backpacks, and textbooks has begun. It can be pretty amazing the amount of information, tasks, and work that can be learned and completed over a semester. Having a “syllabus” and clear sight of your goals and objectives over the next three months is a sure fire way to start on your path of success.

Take a moment to think what you would like to have accomplished by December 31st. Are there some unpleasant, lingering challenges that would provide a huge sense of relief to have wiped off of your plate? Alternately, what are some personal or professional goals that get you really excited? When we have a clear image or vision of where we would like to achieve, we can create a feasible, step-by-step plan to get there.

Here are some other helpful points:

  • After writing them down, place your goals and aspirations in an obvious location and remind yourself of them (especially on those difficult and challenging days).
  • Find someone to hold you accountable! How many successful athletes or athletic teams are there without a coach? 0. We thrive when we have the support, guidance, and expertise of a coach or mentor.
  • Learn from stumbling blocks, challenges, and setbacks. Although these experiences may leave you with a temporary bad taste in your mouth, they are often wonderful learning experiences and opportunities for self-growth.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it.
The time will pass anyway.
